Federal, State and Local governments are often wonderful customers. Understanding the barriers to entry can seem steep. Here we will focus on how to navigate the waters of government procurement. Our initial focus will be federal government procurement as we drill down. This course will provide an overview of a multi-billion dollar per year industry populated by hundreds of thousands of competing contractors. Dominated by red tape and regulations, navigating these waters can be daunting. Spending patterns, acronyms, contradictory guidance and every-changing political administrations keep this evolving industry difficult to comprehend even for the seasoned experts. But just like many things, patterns began to appear, and order comes from chaos.
In this hour-long course, our focus will be on the four legs of the table. Each of the significant authorities in the decision-making process have various levels of power and ability to commit. It is critical to understand the audience you are speaking to at any given time and what authorizations they have. Also, at what stage in the development and fulfillment of an effort can you talk to different personnel. Everyone has their role to play, and government personnel hold to this very strictly. Also, they each have their own interests in the process and hold certain factors over others…and they’re all different. Understanding is critical.
